La Marisol - FAQ concerning your holiday home itself

Is the back terrace private, or is it open to the neighbours?

The entire courtyard is private and not accessible by neighbours.
From Rue Lirette, you go through the blue entrance door through a separate corridor under the front house and enter the completely private and enclosed courtyard. This courtyard measures about 200 square metres. The courtyard is separated from the neighbouring properties by house walls or natural stone walls about 3 metres high. The actual entrance to the La Marisol holiday home is in the front part of the L-shaped courtyard. The seating area, the large sun loungers and an access to the summer kitchen are in the rear part.

Can you please confirm the size of the twin beds? Are they each 90 cm in the bedroom? The other bedrooms have each have 160 cm beds?

We have these bed-sizes in our 3 bedrooms:
1. Ventoux-Bedroom with access to rooftop terrace and bathroom ensuite: 1 bed, 160 × 200 cm
2. Luberon-Bedroom: 1 bed, 160 × 200 cm
3. Roussillon-Bedroom with access to rooftop terrace: 2 beds, 90 × 200 cm each

My only concern is that I will need to do some work while there and a fast, reliable internet connection will be necessary.  Can you tell me if the house has wireless internet service and what speed?

The internet connection is wireless and is usually very reliable. The Wi-Fi is free and the router is located in the living room. The TV also uses this data connection. It is up to VDSL speed (provided by SFR). Our own speed test in November 2023 showed download rates of 28 Mbps and upload rates of 3 Mbps.

Can you tell me if it is possible to have a meal in the shade in the garden?

Yes, it is possible to have your meal in the shade in La Marisol's garden. The garden is equipped with a complete summer kitchen (cooker, dishwasher, fridge) where you can prepare your food. Furthermore, the garden is shaped to offer shaded areas where you can enjoy your meals outside, out of the direct sun, especially during the hottest hours of the day.

Parking spot

Can you drive up to the house to unload the suitcases? (If not, you know you have to pack accordingly).

Kevin (our on-site manager) will usually meet you at the retractable barrier on Quai Rouget. You are then allowed to cross the road and can park on the left-hand side directly on Rue Lirette to unload. Quai Rouget is a pedestrian zone during the summer months. On Sundays, the weekly market already welcomes you there. In the mornings, the barrier is often open until 11 a.m. for deliveries, so that you can normally drive through to load your car when you leave (exception: on special markets, Sundays or during antique fairs, it is not possible to drive through here). We still recommend slim luggage so that you can roll it to the house if necessary. The spiral staircase in the entrance can also only be managed well with average-sized suitcases. Very large and heavy pieces of luggage might have to be unloaded in the entrance.

Is the car park secured and access restricted?

Access to the car park is restricted by 2 barriers (please always insert your parking card, even if a barrier is open, otherwise it will be blocked). However, anyone can enter the car park on foot. We generally recommend not to leave anything in the car in the south of France, although we have never had any negative experiences ourselves.

Is parking space available for two vehicles?

There is one reserved parking space for our guests. If you need additional parking spaces, there is usually another free parking facility nearby (for example at the train station). In addition, there are further parking spaces available for a fee in the immediate vicinity. Ask us in advance or on arrival. Our on-site manager will be happy to help you.

Can you explain the parking spot? Will an SUV fit?

The parking space is of average European size. A normal-sized SUV or van will also fit there.

Payment and deposit

How does the deposit work exactly? Is it charged to the credit card?

The deposit is made in the form of a pre-authorization on your credit card. A sum of money is reserved on your credit card for a certain period of time. Usually, there is no debit. This is only necessary if we have to access the deposit due to a claim. However, this does not apply to minor everyday mishaps such as a broken glass or similar. In these cases, we simply ask you to inform us so that we can provide full facilities for subsequent guests.

When is the deposit pre-authorised?

The pre-authorisation takes place on the day of your arrival via your credit card. This means that you do not have to pay a deposit in cash.
